Exhibition: "Invisible Gravure of a City"

Location

Demo Gallery, Fogashaz, Budapest, Hungary

Date

2012

Artists

Emőke Kerekes, Levente Kádár

Curator

Zsuzsanna Stánitz

As part of the exhibition series "Atlatas" of the Studio of Young Photographers, Hungary, I collaborated with photographers Emőke Kerekes and Levente Kádár. The exhibition attempted to map the urban reality of the streets of Budapest through a different - perhaps invisible - lens.

Emőke Kerekes' photographs of abandoned concrete flower boxes around the streets of Hungary highlighted remnants of the socialist past that could not be removed from the everyday lives whereas Levente Kádár's shots of caravans addressed issues of creativity in poverty where the function and the notion of these caravans has been modified on multiple levels.
